Since as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about helping others. Whether that is through empathetic support, providing a sounding board for peoples thoughts and feelings, brightening someone's day through humor, or even by just listening, I want to make the world around me better. I have 10+ years experience working with various communities/populations from rural Northern California and Western New York, and with many different ailments/issues (anxiety, trauma, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, substance abuse, and adjustment disorders, to name a few).
After graduating with my Masters in Social Work in 2018, I obtained my LCSW while working with some of the most disenfranchised and underserved community members in Humboldt County California and utilizing solution focused (a collaborative and strengths based approach focused on identifying and building on existing resources and strengths toward goal achievement), person-centered (focused on creating a supportive and accepting space where the client can explore their thoughts, experiences, and feelings), and mindfulness (cultivating present-moment awareness and non-judgmental acceptance of feelings, sensations, and thoughts) based approaches.
I have needed to use these skills on my own mental health journey towards healing and wellness. I am not just a practitioner of therapy, but a client as well. I use this lived experience in my practice, as well as implementing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral therapy focuses on identifying negative or inaccurate thought patterns, breaking down issues into more manageable and actionable parts, and reframing negative schemas into a more prosocial outlook), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy looks at connecting with present moment awareness, diffusion of thoughts associated with negative thoughts/feelings, identifying core values, and formulating committed actions) and Narrative (deconstructing problems, exploring alternative narratives, and reframing life stories through problem externalization) therapeutic approaches having seen and felt their benefits in my life personally.
It would be my honor and privilege to ally and join with you on your own healing journey
